Chandrashila treks are one of the most popular treks among Indian trekking enthusiasts. The trek to the peak is 5 km. The trek route that starts from Chopta takes one to Tungnath (highest Shiva temple in the World). Chandrashila that literally suggests the ‘Moon Rock’ is the summit of the Chandranath Parvat on which the Tungnath temple of Panch Kedar is situatation. Chandrashila is summit of the Tungnath. It literally means "Moon Rock". It is located at a height of about 4,000 metres above sea level. This peak provides views of the Himalayas.
Dayara Bugyal Trek Ideal trek for long weekends, Dayara Bugyal can be a perfect start for beginners. This region receives heavy snowfall during winters. The trek goes through open land and dense forest at different places ending up at the vast expanse of lush green meadow. Most of the trekkers start their trek from Barsu village and they trek down via Raithal to see the scenic beauty of both the routes.
Though the trek is quite easy it is still wise to prepare your body for the trek a few days before your trek. Running, cycling etc all help improve cardiovascular stamina.
Roopkund - The Mysterious Skeleton Lake Set amidst the benevolent mountainous peaks, the Roopkund Lake remains in the spotlight for its unsolved mystery. It has been nicknamed as the 'Mystery Lake' as the remains of human skeletons and horses belonging to the Palaeolithic age can be seen here. The adrenaline pumping trek to Roopkund starts from Lohajung, a tiny pass seated at 16,499 feet above sea level in the Garhwal Himalayas. This shallow lake has a depth of about 2 metres and is the most popular lake in the entire Uttarakhand.
KunjapuriFrom Rishikesh, climb up green slopes and step on small boulders as you trek your way up to Kunjapuri. Walk along a mountain stream and take in the magnificent views of the Himalayas in the distance. Soon you will reach a lovely waterfall. Continue your trek going past some clusters of mountain homes, the only signs of habitation that you will come across. As you continue your climb you can see the town of Haridwar in the valley below. Go past the small hamlet of Badkot till you reach Kunjapuri, located at a height of 5 500 feet above sea level. On the trek keep a lookout for deer, peacocks and wild boars.
KauripassAt an altitude of 4264 meters, Kuari Top is like an amphitheatre where some of the stalwart peaks of Himalayas take stage. The 7000 meters club includes the Kamet (7756m),Trishul (7120m), Chaukhamba (7128m), and the great divine peak of Nanda Devi (7817m) and its twin Nanda Devi East (7434m). More peaks make an equally imposing appearance – Nanda Ghunti, Hathi Ghoda Parbat, Neelkanth, Dronagiri, Mukut Parbat, Mana, Rishi Pahad, and Changbang, to name a few.
