Tour Overview

Badrinath, also known as Badrinarayan Temple, is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, India. It is one of the Char Dhams, revered as a sacred abode of Lord Vishnu. The temple, situated at an elevation of approximately 3,100 meters, is surrounded by the Nar and Narayan mountain ranges and the Alaknanda River. Badrinath is a popular destination for pilgrims seeking spiritual solace and blessings, with the temple’s doors open for six months a year, typically from May to November.

The temple, believed to have been established by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century, is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, who is worshipped as Badrinarayan. Pilgrims often visit the Tapt Kund, a natural hot water spring near the temple, to cleanse themselves before entering. The temple is known for its vibrant decorations and the black stone idol of Lord Vishnu. Badrinath also holds significance in Hindu scriptures and is a place where Lord Nar and Narayan are said to have met.

Badrinath offers several nearby places for exploration, including Mana Village, Vasudhara Falls, and Auli. Mana Village, the last Indian village before the Tibetan border, is known for Vyas Gufa and Ganesh Gufa. Vasudhara Falls, a scenic waterfall, requires a trek from Mana. Auli, a popular hill station, is a short distance from Badrinath and known for its skiing slopes.
